A new dimension to AgroStar with more than 7000 offline stores by the end of 2022

Updated: Dec 20, 2022

AgroStar has been at the forefront of a digital revolution in Indian agriculture, setting a good pace for the agtech domain. With a successful reach to more than 18 million farmers through our digital Agri Advisory Center and our AgroStar Kisaan App, AgroStar has now changed course to focus on offline presence too.

AgroStar’s services of good quality Agri inputs and Agri advisory are now within an arm’s reach for farmers, through our physical store.

The omnichannel strategy

Right in the middle of the pandemic, in May 2021, we took the bold decision of launching retail stores across all states of operation. Sticking to a digital-only model limited our engagement with our customers. Although we live in a digitally connected world, building an offline presence and adding a human touch is equally important. While there is a lot of momentum in the adoption of digital channels amongst farmers, there is still a huge percentage of farmers who are apprehensive about turning to digital platforms for their needs or are unaware of the digital tools at their disposal. Hence, the purpose of our omnichannel strategy is to give farmers faster and better access to AgroStar’s services and provide a seamless experience to our customers across channels.

Heatmap of our presence

AgroStar’s Laal dukaan is fast becoming synonymous for its distinct look and feel. These digitally connected stores are providing various services like a virtual consultation with AgroStar Agri Doctors, soil testing, seed coating, and access to a wide range of high-quality branded inputs like seeds, crop nutrition, crop protection, and fertilisers. These inputs are facilitated through AgroStar’s partnership with more than 200 brand partners providing high-quality agri-inputs.

Glimpses of our tech-enabled stores

What’s in store for the future?

With more than 2700 stores already up and running, AgroStar has built its capabilities in both online and offline channels along with an in-house logistics management system. This ecosystem has enabled us to move fast and provide 7-star services to our customers at the right time and right place. Having an offline presence helps in building trust amongst new customers, getting a deeper understanding of their challenges, building a deeper connection, customer retention and more.

Today, our stores are helping create an ecosystem of micro-entrepreneurs in rural India by enabling them to provide services from a trusted brand like AgroStar. We believe these stores will play a key role in the output side as well by giving easy access to market linkages for our farmers.

We plan to rapidly scale our offline presence and aim to reach the milestone of 9,000+ stores by March 2023. Currently, AgroStar’s Laal Dukaan is spread across 5 states in India - Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. With our tech and data interventions, we will continue innovating and improving our services to fulfil our mission of #HelpingFarmersWin be it through our online or offline channels.
